WACA was a proud sponsor of Tech in Asia in Singapore. The event attracted a wide range of startups from cosmetics to a coffee maker that learns your behavior – making sure you look good and feel good.
For those not familiar with the startup scene in ASEAN, get familiar.
While Silicon Valley is often regarded as the startup center of the world, ASEAN is driving more startups than any other region these days. WACA was very fortunate to have met with more than 100 people from these startups and investors.
We gave over 100 textbooks and 600 chocolates away over the course of 2 days to help attendees get a better understanding of web analytics. Textbooks to help people study and chocolates just because.
With that said, we couldn’t help but feel a bit underwhelmed. There were certainly some great ideas, lots of passion, a definite sense of potential and yet somehow predictable. Like the early days of the web in the 2000’s, it was cool, but it was a lot cooler after Google came around.
One thing was certain; the future of innovation is in the Internet of things powered by behavioral big data. The coffee machine was a great example of this. Overall, brilliant minds, good times, and even better people.
We had a great time and we look forward to the next time!
